Open Access Energy bags $ 750K investment

In a major boost to South Africa's renewable energy sector, Open Access Energy (OAE), a burgeoning software company specializing in energy transactions, has secured a $750,000 investment from Factor E Ventures. This funding is part of an initial tranche aimed to total $1.5 million in a seed funding round aimed at enhancing the naion's energy stability.

Founded in 2021, Open Access Energy is at the forefront of developing software solutions tailored to mitigate South Africa's pressing energy issues. The nation's heavy reliance on coal-fired power generation has led to grid instability and high operational costs, hampering the integration of renewable energy sources.

Through its innovative platforms, Amptera and Energypro, OAE facilitates real-time energy transactions and improves energy management for independent power producers (IPPs) and municipalities.

"This investment from Factor E Ventures arrives at a crucial juncture for both our company and South Africa's energy sector," stated Gerjo Hoffman, CEO of Open Access Energy. He further emphasized the role of the investment in enhancing their technological capabilities and market presence, both within South Africa and internationally.

"As we strive to decentralize energy and ensure universal access to clean power for all South Africans, this support will accelerate our innovation capabilities and market reach."

Tenbite Ermias, Partner at Factor E Ventures, expressed optimism about the investment, highlighting OAE?s role in addressing significant inefficiencies in the country's energy sector. "Open Access Energy is well-positioned to tackle the country's energy challenges and drive its transition to renewable sources. Our support highlights our belief in their potential to make a substantial impact," said Ermias.

The investment is expected to enable OAE to scale operations, refine its software platforms, and develop new features that will strengthen its position in the energy sector.

With South Africa poised for a significant energy transformation, the support from Factor E Ventures is seen as a pivotal step towards the country's adoption of more sustainable and stable energy solutions. As South Africa moves toward greater reliance on renewables and distributed generation, OAE's technology plays a critical role in facilitating this transition, providing essential tools for market participants to effectively adapt and thrive in the evolving energy landscape.
