Omega Seiki Mobility launches first small commercial electric vehicle

On Monday, EV manufacturer Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) revealed the country's first electric small commercial vehicle (SCV), the M1KA, and announced that bookings for the latest offering will begin in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The SCV has a payload capacity of two tonnes and is equipped with a 90 kWh NMC-based battery that provides the longest driving range of 250 km on a single charge, according to the company said at the unveiling.

Besides that, at DC fast-charging stations, the battery takes four hours to fully charge.

The vehicle also has a large 10-foot loading area, which the company claims are suitable for both heavy and voluminous loads.

The e-scv is a green and practical solution that can be used for a variety of applications such as courier, goods distribution, e-commerce, and FMCG, to name a few.

Uday Narang, Founder and Chairman, Omega Seiki Mobility told the media that to further its mission of developing net-zero carbon mobility, Omega Seiki Mobility is developing a next-generation electric commercial vehicle.

Narang said that on the back of cost-effectiveness, long-term solutions, and increasing support from the federal and state governments, the electric vehicle market is growing, particularly in the commercial vehicle space.

Omega Seiki Mobility provides market-leading vehicles that are built on adaptable platforms, with a focus on engineering and tech enabled automotive solutions catering to the future of mobility.

Omega Seiki Mobility is an Indian electric vehicle manufacturer working on its own line of commercial EVs that will be used primarily for last-mile delivery in e-commerce. Omega Seiki is a separate business auto vertical of the Anglian Omega Group, with headquarters in New Delhi, India. Rage+, the company's first vehicle, was designed and developed entirely in house at the company's manufacturing facility in Faridabad, Haryana.
