NTPC plans to install 60 GW RE capacity by 2032

The state-owned power company National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) told the media that it had set a target to install a 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.

NTPC became India's first energy sector to declare its energy goals as a part of UN High-level Dialogue on Energy (HLDE), said a statement.

The country's largest power producer aims to reduce 10% of its net energy capacity installation by 2032.

NTPC is among the few companies to globally declare its energy-compact goals. It has also declared that it will form at least two international alliances to facilitate clean energy research and sustainability promotion in the energy value chain by 2025.

The targets were revealed in the recent Ministerial Thematic Forums for the HDLE event. NTPC has also made it public on the UN's website.

The UN is set to meet a high-level dialogue in September 2021 to promote its implementation of energy goals and targets for the Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030.

NTPC is taking up various steps to increase its green energy portfolio by installing capacities of renewable energy.

Earlier, it planned to have a minimum of 32 GW renewable energy capacity, consisting of 25% of its overall power generation capacity by 2032.

This development will boost the Nation's largest energy producer, which will secure its position in the green energy map of the country.
