The Varanasi division (electrical) of Northeastern Railway has recently issued four tenders for a total of 10.4 MW on-grid rooftop solar systems to be installed at various buildings in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The tenders include different project capacities, with submission deadlines set between January 31 and February 3, 2025. Bidders are required to submit earnest money deposits (EMDs) ranging from Rs 0.89 million to Rs 1.2 million depending on the tender, with the expected project costs varying between Rs 148 million and Rs 174.08 million. The selected contractors will be tasked with supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning Mono PERC half-cut solar panels in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Solar Energy Corporation of India and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The systems will be installed on building terraces, platform sheds, and pathways, and bidders must also supply associated components such as inverters, UV-protected flexible conduits, copper DC cables, long barrel lugs, bus bars, and data logger facilities. The completion deadline for each project is within six months from the award, with regular cleaning of the solar systems every 15 days. Additionally, bidders must meet specific requirements regarding their average annual contractual turnover and demonstrate experience in similar projects. For tenders above Rs 5 million, bidders need to have completed relevant projects over the past seven years, with conditions on the value and number of such projects. Earlier in October 2024, Northeastern Railways had invited tenders for a total of 2.21 MW of on-grid rooftop solar systems in the Izzatnagar division of Uttar Pradesh, further reinforcing the region's push towards sustainable energy solutions.
