India to Add 337,900 MW Power Capacity by 2032: MoS Naik

India is set to significantly enhance its power generation capacity, with plans to add approximately 337,900 megawatts (MW) by 2032. This ambitious goal, announced by Minister of State (MoS) for Power, Shripad Naik, is aimed at addressing the increasing energy demands and supporting the country?s economic growth.

The expansion will involve a mix of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, alongside traditional power generation methods. This diversified approach is intended to ensure a stable and sustainable energy supply while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

The planned capacity increase is part of the government's broader strategy to enhance the energy infrastructure, improve efficiency, and meet the needs of a growing population and industrial sector. By focusing on both renewable and conventional sources, the initiative aims to support India's energy transition goals and reduce carbon emissions.

As part of this plan, the government will also invest in modernising the grid infrastructure and developing advanced technologies to optimise energy distribution. This substantial investment in power infrastructure is expected to create job opportunities and contribute to economic development across various regions.

Overall, this expansion reflects India's commitment to strengthening its energy sector and supporting long-term sustainable growth.
