In-house solar power generation saves 2,300 tn of CO2 in RRTS corridor

The National Capital Regional Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced the implementation of 2.21 megawatt peak (MWp) of in-house solar power generation along the RRTS corridor is helping to mitigate over 2,300 tons of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) annually. This initiative reflects NCRTC's commitment to renewable energy adoption across the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, the first of its kind in India.

By leveraging solar panels installed on rooftops, NCRTC has transformed its stations, depots, and receiving substations into hubs of clean and sustainable energy. The solar power plants, operational at various locations including Guldhar and Sahibabad RRTS stations, Duhai Depot, and receiving substations, contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions. Moreover, installations at other stations are underway, further expanding the network of solar power infrastructure.

Upon reaching its targeted capacity of 11 MW solar powers, NCRTC anticipates a substantial reduction of around 11,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually, aligning with its efforts to combat climate change. These initiatives are in line with NCRTC's solar policy adopted in March 2021, aiming to generate over 11 MW peak of solar power across its facilities.

The solar power plants at Guldhar and Sahibabad stations, equipped with high-efficiency solar panels, exemplify NCRTC's dedication to sustainability. These installations are projected to generate a significant amount of electricity annually, making both stations ?Carbon Negative? by generating surplus power beyond their requirements.

Presently, a 34-km section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is operational, serving passengers between Sahibabad and Modi Nagar North stations. As construction progresses swiftly on the remaining stretches, NCRTC aims to complete the entire system by June 2025. (Source: ET Energy)

US oil industry urges Trump to ditch Biden climate policies

The U.S. oil and gas industry called on President-elect Donald Trump to scrap many of President Joe Biden's policies aimed at fighting climate change, saying the measures threaten jobs, consumer choice and energy security. The American Petroleum Institute (API), the nation's top oil and gas trade group, urged Trump's incoming administration to do away with vehicle emissions standards meant to move the auto industry to produce more electric vehicles, lift a pause on export permits for liquefied natural gas facilities and work with Congress to repeal a fee on methane emissions from drilling oper..
