Centre aims 227 GW renewable energy capacity target by 2022

Informa Markets in India, the prominent B2B exhibitions organiser, conducted the fifth edition of RenewX, a two-day renewable energy trade expo at the Hitex Exhibition center on November 19 and 20.

The group director, Energy portfolio, Informa Markets in India, Rajneesh Khattar, opened the expo in the presence of dignitaries and industry experts from the south Indian renewable energy sector.

Those present involved CMD, Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd, G Raghuma Reddy; British Deputy High Commissioner, Dr Andrew Fleming; Special Chief Secretary (Energy), Sunil Sharma; Director Power & Utilities, PWC, Bhagyathej Reddy; Principal Secretary (Industries, Commerce & IT), Jayesh Ranjan; MD, Informa Markets, Yogesh Mudras. Speaking at the inauguration, Yogesh Mudras said that the Telangana State inspires them in multiple ways and the government's initiatives to support the State's position in the renewable energy industry brings them back to preparing RenewX in Hyderabad.

Renewable growth will stimulate in the years to come under the focused administration of the Central and the State governments and the plans and supportive actions will make a new progressive path for the overall renewable energy sector.

While the established renewable power production capacity has gained pace over the last few years, registering a CAGR of 17.33% between FY16-20, the centre plans to attain 227 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022, much ahead of its goal of 175 GW according to the Paris Agreement.
