NMDC Aims to Double Iron-Ore Production in Five Years

The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), India's largest producer of iron ore, has set a bold objective to more than double its current production from 40 million tonnes (MT) to 100 MT within the next five years, as stated by CMD (additional charge) Amitava Mukherjee. He emphasized the commitment to achieve in the upcoming half-decade what the company has accomplished over the span of the past six decades. This ambitious endeavor will not only entail boosting production but also ensuring the successful execution of significant projects already in the company's pipeline. These aspirations were shared during the 77th Independence Day celebrations held at the NMDC headquarters.

During the event, Mr. Mukherjee, joined by Zailabuddin, the senior-most employee at the head office, raised the national flag.

The ceremony was attended by several key figures, including Dilip Kumar Mohanty, director-production, Vishwanath Suresh, director-commercial, Vinay Kumar, director-technical, and B. Vishwanath, chief vigilance officer, as well as other senior officials and employees. The Independence Day celebrations were marked by enthusiastic fervor not only at the NMDC headquarters but also across all its project sites, as mentioned in a statement by NMDC.

The event also saw the honoring of winners from the large-scale chess competition organized by NMDC during the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' week, as well as winners from various games arranged for employees and associates.
