Three prospective routes have been identified as high-demand corridors for the projected metro rail network in the city, according to the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) created by Trichy Corporation with the help of a consultant located in Bengaluru. These 68 km-long lines may serve as Trichy Metro master plan projected by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). The report was created based on 20 different forms of data collecting and surveys carried out in an 803 sq km area.
