Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) selected Tata Projects Ltd to construct the Noida International Airport (NIA).
The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of NIA will be undertaken by Tata Projects. Tata Projects will build the terminal, runway, utilities, airside infrastructure, roads, landside facilities, and other ancillary buildings at Noida International Airport. The company pipped the likes of Shapoorji, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) for the agreement. YIAPL has appointed Tata Projects Ltd to undertake the Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of Noida International Airport. The company has been chosen from three shortlisted teams with established experience in the design, procurement, and construction of large infrastructure projects. The new airport is anticipated to be operational by 2024. With the closure of the EPC agreement, the first phase of the airport is on track to be delivered within three years of the start of the concession period, YIAPL said. Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, Chief Executive Officer, Christoph Schnellmann, told the media that the authority is pleased to associate with Tata Projects for EPC work at Noida International Airport. With the award of this agreement, the project enters the next phase, which will see rapid growth in the pace of construction activities on-site. The firm, together with Tata Projects, is performing to deliver a passenger terminal, runway, and other airport infrastructure with a capacity of 12 million passengers yearly, by 2024. Tata Projects will work closely with YIAPL to construct the airport on time. CEO and MD-designate at Tata Projects Ltd, Vinayak Pai, said the company would deploy the latest technologies in its construction while satisfying the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Tata Projects' other key projects include the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link, New Parliament Building, and metro rail lines across various cities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Jewar in November 2021. The airport is likely to get operational by 2024. The project is being constructed as a public-private partnership (PPP) between Zurich Airport and Uttar Pradesh government. Zurich Airport is infusing Rs 5,700 crore for phase I and has tied up about Rs 3,725 crore in debt from the State Bank of India (SBI) for the project. Image Source
