This significant infrastructure development is projected to cost ?41,000 crore and is a key component of India?s ambitious plan to enhance rail connectivity in the region.

The bridge, towering at a height of approximately 359 metres above the Chenab River, will surpass the height of the existing record-holder in China. Its construction is a testament to the advanced engineering and technological capabilities of Indian infrastructure projects. The bridge will play a crucial role in connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, providing a vital transportation link for both passengers and freight.

Once completed, the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link will revolutionise travel within Jammu and Kashmir, reducing travel time and improving accessibility. The project aims to stimulate regional economic growth, enhance trade, and bolster tourism by making the scenic beauty of the Kashmir Valley more accessible.

The Indian government has prioritised this project due to its strategic importance and potential to improve socio-economic conditions in the region. As work progresses, stakeholders are optimistic that the successful completion of the bridge will mark a significant milestone in India?s railway infrastructure development.
