UP?s PGC station fire led to power outage in Delhi

The power outage in various parts of Delhi stemmed from a malfunction at a sub-station of the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) located in Mandola, Uttar Pradesh, stated Atishi, Delhi's Power Minister. With Delhi receiving 1200 MW of power from the Mandola sub-station, the impact was widespread across the city. However, efforts to restore power are underway, and electricity is gradually being reinstated in affected areas.

Expressing concern over the incident, Atishi emphasised the need to prevent such occurrences in the future. She stated her intention to schedule meetings with the Union Power Minister and the Chairman of PGCIL to address the issue and ensure preventive measures are put in place.

In addition to the power outage, Atishi also addressed water shortage concerns, highlighting a decline in the water level at the Wazirabad barrage and reduced water flow from the Munak canal. She appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to engage with the Haryana government to secure additional water releases for the canal, crucial for seven treatment plants in Delhi. The Lieutenant Governor has assured cooperation in addressing this issue. (Source: ET Energy)
