Union Power, Housing, & Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated on Monday that he had reviewed various ongoing hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh. He posted on social media that he was pleased to meet the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri @PemaKhanduBJP, and Deputy CM Shri @ChownaMeinBJP in Itanagar. Khattar mentioned that during the meeting, they reviewed various ongoing hydropower projects, the comprehensive scheme of transmission & distribution, and the revamped distribution sector scheme in the state. He added that the state has shown a steadfast commitment to enhancing its power infrastructure, resulting in significant progress in sustainability.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, also using social media, described a productive review meeting chaired by the Hon'ble Union Power Minister, Shri @mlkhattar Ji, in Itanagar, focusing on the power sector of Arunachal Pradesh. He expressed gratitude to Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri @ChownaMeinBJP Ji, Advisor to Power Minister Shri Jikke Tako Ji, and officials from various power corporations for their valuable insights.
Khandu further stated that they discussed the status of hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh and emphasised that ongoing projects are progressing steadily. He affirmed their commitment to overcoming challenges to expedite their completion, highlighting the projects' importance not only for meeting the state's power needs but also for contributing to the national grid and bolstering the economy.
In another post, Khandu mentioned attending a presentation by the Department of Urban Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, alongside Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister, Shri @ChownaMeinBJP Ji, and Hon'ble Minister for Urban Affairs, Shri @BaloRaja Ji.
Later in the day, Khattar visited Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik at Raj Bhavan and discussed harnessing the vast hydropower potential in the state and urban amenities. The governor highlighted that Arunachal Pradesh possesses substantial untapped resources with over 58,000 MW of hydroelectric potential.
