Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL) has been awarded a contract to develop a 23 MW solar power project for Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). This initiative is part of WCL's ongoing efforts to integrate renewable energy into its operations and reduce its carbon footprint.

The solar project will be established on WCL's mining site, utilising the available land to generate clean energy. This move aligns with the company?s commitment to sustainable practices and energy efficiency. The project aims to supply renewable power directly to WCL's mining operations, significantly lowering their dependence on conventional power sources and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

TCIL, a leading engineering and consultancy firm, will oversee the design, engineering, and installation of the solar power plant. The project is expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe, ensuring that the benefits of solar energy are realised promptly.

This project is part of a broader initiative by Coal India and its subsidiaries to incorporate renewable energy solutions across their operations. By leveraging solar power, these entities aim to mitigate environmental impact and promote sustainable energy use.

The 23 MW solar installation will not only enhance WCL's energy security but also contribute to India's national renewable energy targets. It showcases the potential for integrating renewable energy projects within industrial operations, setting a precedent for other companies in the sector.

With the project's commencement, TCIL and WCL are set to achieve significant milestones in their renewable energy journey, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
