TCIL Initiates Tender for 2 MW Floating Solar Project in Mauritius

01 Jul 2024

Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL) has launched a tender inviting bids for a 2 MW floating solar photovoltaic (PV) power project in Mauritius. The project is part of Mauritius' efforts to enhance renewable energy capacity and reduce dependency on fossil fuels.

The floating solar project will be installed at the Mare Chicose Reservoir, leveraging the water surface to maximise solar energy generation. TCIL aims to implement innovative solar technology to harness clean energy efficiently in a sustainable manner.

The initiative aligns with Mauritius' commitment to achieving renewable energy targets and promoting environmental sustainability. The floating solar project not only utilises underutilised water bodies but also contributes to water conservation efforts by reducing evaporation.

TCIL's tender invites interested parties to participate in the project, emphasising technological innovation and expertise in floating solar PV systems. The selected bidder will be responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of the project.

This initiative marks a significant step towards integrating solar energy into Mauritius' energy mix, fostering economic growth through sustainable development. The project is expected to contribute to the country's energy security while mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
