To meet projected peak demand, Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has signed a 200 MW medium-term hydro power purchase agreement (PPA) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVNL).
The agreement states that NVVNL will supply hydro power to the company for the next five years, from May to September, beginning in 2023. The collaboration will assist Tata Power Company's distribution arm in expanding its green portfolio, with a visible increase in the share of green energy in its operations.
In the upcoming summer months, Tata Power-DDL's Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rohini, north-west Delhi, will assist by ensuring continuous and reliable power to consumers during any outages.
Tata Power DDL is a joint venture (JV) between Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi. It is one of the suppliers of electricity in the national capital, serving its seven million population base.
