The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has opened bids for the redevelopment of Ahmedabad Railway Station and the construction of associated infrastructure using the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 25.63 billion. Ahmedabad, declared as a UNESCO World Heritage City, has been ranked as the third-best city to live in India according to the Ease of Living Index.
Ved Parkash Dudeja, Vice Chairman of RLDA, stated, "As one of the largest cities in the country, Ahmedabad plays a significant role in economic growth and prosperity. The redevelopment project aims to integrate various modes of transportation, including High-Speed Rail, Metro, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and city buses, making it a central transportation hub for the city."
The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Railways responsible for the development of railway land. Its development plan focuses on four key areas: leasing commercial sites, colony redevelopment, station redevelopment, and multi-functional complexes.
During the current financial year, RLDA has already leased several sites, such as Waltax Road in Chennai, Ajmer in Rajasthan, Bijwasan in Delhi, Kharagpur, and Solapur in Maharashtra. The cumulative lease premium from these sites amounts to Rs 16.22 billion, including railway assets valued at approximately Rs 75.4 million, which will be developed in Kharagpur Railway Colony.
Furthermore, RLDA has recently awarded the station redevelopment project for CSMT Railway Station using the EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) model.
