In a major move toward sustainable waste management, Re Sustainability, Asia's leading sustainability solutions provider, and Sharrp Ventures, the investment arm of the Harsh Mariwala family, have announced the launch of the Plastics Circularity Initiative. Set to begin operations in Hyderabad and Raipur, this project aims to process 32,000 tonnes of waste annually, producing over 9,000 tonnes of high-quality recycled polymers and reducing 15,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
The initiative focuses on tackling the FMCG sector's challenge of sourcing quality recycled materials while supporting India’s sustainability goals by diverting waste from landfills. With advanced recycling facilities, both cities will see 100% dry waste diversion by FY26, providing over 370 direct jobs, with 75% of those roles reserved for women, and indirectly supporting 2,000 livelihoods.
This large-scale effort is backed by Marico Innovation Foundation (MIF) and incorporates cutting-edge AI sorting technology from Ishitva Robotics Systems at one of the Hyderabad facilities.
