Pimpri Chinchwad property transfers to simplify with data integration

01 Oct 2024

Property transactions in Pimpri Chinchwad are expected to become smoother as the civic administration has completed integrating the property tax department’s data with the computerised system of the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) office.

With this integration, residents will no longer need to submit a separate application to register their property with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). "Registration will happen automatically once the data is updated with the IGR office," a PCMC official confirmed.

The new system aims to expedite property transfers by automatically sharing relevant information with the civic body’s property tax department. Once the data is updated, the tax department will verify the details, and property owners will receive a notification with a link to pay the transfer fees online.

If the transfer fees are not paid within the specified time, the amount will be added to the property tax bill. Avinash Shinde, deputy municipal commissioner and head of the property tax department, emphasised that many citizens fail to register new property ownership with the PCMC, leading to bills being sent to previous owners.

“This often results in accumulating property tax dues and penalties due to delayed payments. We expect this data integration to resolve these issues by ensuring accurate ownership records, with tax bills sent directly to the correct owners,” Shinde explained.

He also encouraged citizens to mention property numbers in their IGR applications to ensure smooth processing.
