Indian Railways will be fully electrified soon. The North Eastern Railway zone had commissioned several new projects by 2021.
These projects include a 47 km gauge conversion that includes a 4 km stretch between Shahjahanpur and Shahbaz nagar section and 43 km long Mailani – Shahgarh section, Doubling and Electrification of 101 km including 16.8 km long Sitapur – Parsendi, 14.6 km long Madhosingh – Gyanpur Road, 40 km long Aunrihar – Ghazipur City, 10.5 km long Ballia – Phaphna, 20 km long Aunrihar – Dhobhi as well as electrification of 406 km. According to a press release from the Ministry of Railway, more than 75% of the North Eastern Railway's section has been electrified, and the zone will be fully electrified by 2022. Train coach maintenance facilities have been established at Ghazipur and Ballia, according to the ministry. Six ROBs have also been finished. At 10 different railway stations, there are a total of 24 escalators available for passengers. At eight different railway stations, a total of 22 lifts have been installed, as well as Wi-Fi service in all 295 eligible railway stations. A total of 47 railway stations have been converted into Adarsh stations, according to the Railway Ministry. The North Eastern Railway had implemented several safety measures to reduce the number of untoward incidents. The installation of RUB or LHS or ROB, as well as diversions, has resulted in the elimination of 75 level crossings. According to the ministry, all level crossing gates with a Total Vehicle Unit (TVU) of more than 50,000 have been interlocked. Aside from that, as many as 16 Level Crossing gates with a TVU of less than 50,000 were interlocked in 2021. A 78 km stretch of track was also renewed. Deep screening of 192 km of plain track and 145 turnouts was also completed, according to the ministry. Image Source
