Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced that the upcoming Mumbai-Pune-Bengaluru expressway will significantly reduce traffic congestion in the Pimpri Chinchwad area. Speaking at a rally for BJP candidate Shankar Jagtap in Chinchwad, Gadkari highlighted the expressway’s importance in easing the region’s traffic woes.

Gadkari shared that the expressway, which will be part of a larger ring road network, is estimated to cost Rs 550 billion. “The expressway from Mumbai to Bengaluru, passing through the ring road, will help alleviate the persistent traffic jams in Pimpri Chinchwad,” he said.

In addition to the expressway, Gadkari also discussed several other road projects in Pune. He revealed that elevated stretches and flyovers worth Rs 800 billion had been approved. Key projects include a major route from Nashik Phata to Khed, which will cost Rs 80 billion, as well as plans to upgrade the Solapur-Yavat and Narhe-Ravet roads in Pune city. An elevated road will also be constructed on the Talegaon-Chakan route at a cost of Rs 70 billion.
