The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) recently organized a workshop on sustainable design for smart cities, focusing on eco-friendly practices and resilient infrastructure. The event brought together government officials, urban planners, architects, and industry experts to discuss and share insights on integrating sustainable solutions into smart city planning. As Indian cities expand and modernize, the NICDC emphasized the importance of building cities that are environmentally sustainable and energy efficient, aligning with India’s climate goals and global urban sustainability trends.

Topics covered included green infrastructure, energy conservation, and urban ecosystem management. The workshop provided a platform for participants to discuss practical approaches to reduce carbon footprints, improve waste management, and create more liveable urban spaces. Emphasizing renewable energy integration and water conservation, NICDC encouraged stakeholders to consider climate resilience as a core component of urban planning.

NICDC officials highlighted that sustainable smart cities not only improve residents' quality of life but also drive economic growth through efficient resource use and lower energy costs. The discussion covered innovative smart infrastructure technologies, including smart grids, automated traffic management, and green building materials.

Attendees contributed policy recommendations and discussed how public-private partnerships could accelerate progress toward building sustainable cities. This workshop reflects NICDC’s commitment to ensuring that future Indian cities are environmentally responsible, resource-conscious, and resilient to climate challenges.
