Managing Director of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and Director of IIT Roorkee has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for sharing knowledge on innovative ideas and technologies in highway engineering.
The MoU aims to establish the basis of collaboration between NHIDCL and IIT Roorkee, which can take up various activities of common interest, including sharing knowledge on innovative ideas and technologies in highway engineering and other infrastructure-related works as per mutually agreed terms and conditions. This MoU provides a formal basis for initiating interaction between NHIDCL and IIT Roorkee. It will play a significant role in completing the aims and objectives of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. NHIDCL promotes surveys on designs, builds, operates (DBO) basis, and maintains and upgrades National Highways (NHs) and strategic roads. It interconnects roads in parts of the country which share international boundaries with neighbouring countries like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, West Bengal, and the seven northeastern states. IIT Roorkee is a centre of excellence in education and research, with expertise in science, technology and management. It will be a hub of knowledge creation and technology development that prioritises the frontier areas of national and global importance to improve the life of every citizen. Both NHIDCL and IIT Roorkee are leading premier national organisations, and their partnership will achieve national objectives, undertaken with their best abilities and maximum cooperation.
