NCRTC and Delhi Metro Launch Integrated QR-Ticketing System

01 Aug 2024

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delhi Metro to launch an integrated QR-ticketing system. This new initiative allows passengers to book QR code tickets for both Namo Bharat and Delhi Metro services through a single platform, advancing the 'One India - One Ticket' initiative for seamless travel across Delhi-NCR.

With this integration, users can now book a Namo Bharat train ticket via the RRTS Connect app and simultaneously purchase a Delhi Metro ticket. Conversely, tickets for Namo Bharat trains can also be bought through the DMRC mobile app when booking Delhi Metro tickets.

This new system will generate unique QR codes for Delhi Metro on the RRTS Connect app and for Namo Bharat on the DMRC app, greatly improving the passenger experience. The integration is anticipated to reduce queues at NCRTC and DMRC stations, saving time for passengers while promoting digital transactions and eco-friendly travel options.

Aligned with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, this initiative aims to integrate various transport modes, enhancing connectivity within Delhi-NCR. The RRTS stations are strategically positioned near existing railway, metro, and bus stations, creating a comprehensive network. By eliminating the need for multiple ticketing apps, the initiative supports rail-based green transportation and encourages public transit use, vital for increasing ridership and sustaining these large-scale projects.

The currently operational 42 km RRTS corridor connects to the 393 km DMRC network, with plans to complete the 82 km corridor by 2025. Once finished, the Namo Bharat trains will reduce travel time between Delhi and Meerut to under one hour, thanks to their high-speed design.
