The Nashik Municipal Corporation's (NMC) health department has urged the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (NMSCDCL) to clear the water hyacinth in the Godavari river.
Rajendra Trimbake, civic health officer, told the media that water hyacinth in the Godavari river is giving breeding spots to mosquitoes. He said it is necessary to remove the water hyacinth before the monsoon season starts. The NMC has already begun taking precautions to ensure that mosquito breeding spots are not being developed in the city. The civic body also carried out a drive to puncture the area in tributaries of the Godavari where the water was accumulating. Sumant More, the NMSCDCL CEO, said that a private agency has been hired to work and maintain the waste skimmer to clean the Godavari river. He told the media that the smart city does not have a sufficient workforce to operate these things. Image Source
