NALCO executes a mining lease deed with Govt. of Odisha

01 Jun 2024

National Aluminium Company (NALCO) and the State Government of Odisha have signed a Mining Lease Deed for the Bauxite Mines in Pottangi Tehsil, Koraput District, covering a land area of 697.979 hectares. With reserves estimated at 111 million tonnes, the mines have an annual production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes, indicating a 32-year mine life. After the mine receives the last necessary regulatory permissions, it should shortly be operational. The 18.5 km overland conveyor would carry the mined bauxite to the NALCO refinery at Damanjodi. This calculated action supports NALCO's future expansions and guarantees a steady supply of raw materials for the company's current refinery. NALCO is well-positioned to fortify its position in the aluminium industry, maximise production efficiency, and satisfy the expanding local and global demand for aluminium thanks to this improved resource base.
