Mumbai Coastal Road Extension Boosts Connectivity

01 Nov 2024

Mumbai's coastal road extension project is set to transform urban mobility by significantly reducing travel time between Nariman Point and Virar to just 35–40 minutes. This ambitious initiative aims to bolster connectivity across Mumbai and its surrounding regions, addressing the city's chronic traffic congestion and fostering economic growth.

The project involves extending the under-construction Mumbai Coastal Road to Virar, creating a seamless high-speed corridor. Key features include elevated roadways, underpasses, and eco-friendly design elements to minimize environmental impact. The road will also integrate advanced traffic management systems to ensure smooth operations and enhance commuter safety.

With this extension, the Maharashtra government seeks to provide a vital alternative to the Western Express Highway and local train networks, easing pressure on existing infrastructure. The improved connectivity is expected to benefit daily commuters, promote regional trade, and attract investments by enhancing accessibility.

This project reflects the city’s commitment to infrastructure modernization, aiming to provide sustainable and efficient urban mobility solutions. The Mumbai coastal road extension is anticipated to serve as a blueprint for future infrastructure projects across India.
