The Karnataka Maritime Board (KMB) is set to conduct feasibility studies for the Mangaluru Water Metro Project, aimed at enhancing water-based transport similar to the Kochi Water Metro. The project, announced in the state budget, will focus on ferrying tourists and passengers across the city's rivers.
The feasibility study will explore the viability of 17 identified routes, aiming to improve tourism and recreational activities. The project will span a 30-km stretch connecting key areas such as Bajal, Maravoor Bridge, Sultan Battery, and Tannirbhavi. The fleet will consist of modern electric or diesel-powered catamaran boats, equipped with necessary amenities.
The KMB expects to conduct a LiDAR survey to support the project's planning phase.b
