Maharashtra Government Greenlights Two New Metro Routes for Pune

The Maharashtra government approved two new metro rail routes in Pune, the state's second-largest city, on Monday. An official reported that the decision to construct the Khadakwasla-Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi and Nalstop-Dahanukar Colony-Warje-Manikbaug metro rail routes was made during the cabinet meeting.

The two new lines will have a combined length of 31.63 kilometres and will be constructed by Maha Metro at a cost of Rs 98.97 billion, with a total of 28 stations planned.

Union Minister and Pune Lok Sabha MP Murlidhar Mohol stated that the new lines are essential for the overall development of Pune city and its transportation. He added that now that the state government has given its approval, he would seek final permissions from the Centre.
