Indian Railways is set to begin the installation of its advanced safety system, Kavach, across key routes in the Central Railway (C-Railway) and South East Central Railway (SECR) zones. The project, which aims to enhance safety by preventing train collisions, is being fast-tracked to ensure quicker implementation. Kavach is an indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system that can automatically stop a train in the event of a potential collision or signal error.
The installation across C-Railway and SECR will cover multiple train routes, with a focus on high-density and accident-prone sections. The system works by enabling communication between trains and signaling systems, ensuring timely alerts and actions in critical situations. By deploying Kavach, Railways aims to reduce human errors, improve safety standards, and enhance the overall efficiency of the railway network.
The safety initiative is expected to play a crucial role in India's ambitious goal of modernizing its rail infrastructure and making travel safer for passengers.
