The chief minister of Karnataka has urged Nitin Gadkari, minister of roads and highways, to sanction Rs 100 million worth of projects in his state. Additionally, he gave him work orders for the Sivamoga, Raichur, Gadag, and ring roads. Currently, work on projects worth Rs 468,300 million is underway in the state but the pace of execution is slow. “A decision has been made to accelerate these projects,” Karnataka's Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai told the media after meeting Gadkari.
Additionally, he stated that the Bannerghatta Reserve Forest STRR (Satellite Town Ring Road) project is still in the works. Because the Bannerghatta Reserve is an environmentally sensitive zone (ESZ), the state government does not want the project to travel through it. As a result, the prime minister ordered the Wildlife Commission to recommend an alternate path.
According to Bommai, Gadkari has additionally consented to a sanction of Rs 10 billion for the Railway Over Bridge (ROB) and Railway Under Bridge (RUB). Additionally, he stated that discussions about these ROBs and RUBs occurred at the meeting and that they are required in Ballari, Mangaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, and Bengaluru's Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR).
