The Kamptee Road double-decker flyover in Nagpur is anticipated to open to the public by the end of September, barring any further delays from heavy rainfall. After seven years of construction, the project is nearing completion with only asphalting and service road work left to finish.
Maha Metro has recently secured the necessary land at LIC Square, significantly accelerating progress on the flyover’s ramp. The project had faced over 2.5 years of delays primarily due to land acquisition issues, which were resolved with the acquisition of 2,383.36 square meters of land at a cost of Rs 393.5 million, paid in compensation and establishment charges by the District Collectorate.
The construction also required partial demolition of several old structures, and the initial planned landing site was revised to meet local community demands, spearheaded by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. With just a few weeks of work remaining, officials are hopeful the flyover will soon alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
