JDA will begin work on Sikar Road's rainwater drainage project

01 Jun 2024

After this year's monsoon, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will start the first phase of a rainwater drainage project on Sikar Road and in the nearby communities of Vidhyadhar Nagar and Muralipura. The project is expected to be finished before next year's monsoon.

The JDA would install pipelines under the Sikar Road in the first phase of the project, running from the Delhi-Ajmer Highway bridge to the Dravyavati River, which is located close to Panipench.

The project will be completed in three stages, each consisting of seven distinct packages. We would complete two packages of drainage system installation beneath the Sikar Road's two flanks in the first phase.

We would finish three more packages in the following phase, installing drainage systems for the colonies in the Muralipura region and connecting them to the mainlines beneath Sikar Road. According to a JDA engineer, In the third phase, we will finish the remaining two packages and connect the drainage line of Vidhyadhar Nagar's colonies with the mainlines under Sikar Road.

The executive engineer of JDA, Sandeep Gupta, told TOI that the Sikar Road section between the Delhi-Ajmer Highway and Chomu Circle has an odd shape that resembles a bowl. Since both sides of this length are oriented considerably higher than the middle, the Dahar ka Balaji crossing and its surrounding areas are particularly vulnerable.
