IndianOil, one of India’s leading oil companies, and EverEnviro, a waste management company, have formed a 50:50 joint venture (JV) aimed at accelerating the development of biofuels in India. This strategic partnership is part of both companies’ commitment to driving India’s energy transition towards cleaner, more sustainable fuel alternatives. The JV will focus on converting municipal solid waste and agricultural residues into biofuels, which can be used in transportation and industrial applications.
The collaboration aligns with India’s broader energy goals of reducing carbon emissions and boosting the use of renewable energy. Biofuels produced from waste not only provide a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels but also help tackle the country’s growing waste management challenges. IndianOil’s expertise in fuel production, combined with EverEnviro’s specialization in waste processing, makes this partnership a crucial step toward promoting a circular economy.
The venture will establish several biofuel production facilities across India, focusing on creating a reliable supply chain for waste-to-energy solutions. These plants will utilize advanced technology to process organic waste into biofuels such as compressed biogas (CBG) and ethanol, which are crucial for reducing the carbon footprint of the transportation and energy sectors.
This initiative supports the Indian government’s vision for achieving energy security through renewable sources and aligns with global efforts to mitigate climate change by reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The IndianOil-EverEnviro JV is expected to play a pivotal role in India’s biofuel roadmap, contributing to the nation's goals of increased energy self-reliance and a sustainable future.
