As the building plan approval committee of the UT administration gave its approval to the designs and drawings by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) for a general housing scheme to be set up at IT Park, the board has given approval to environmental clearance for the project.
In February, the board had applied for environmental clearance for an IT Park general housing scheme. It received approvals for structure, electrical, public health, town planning, and architecture from concerned departments. All of which were assessed by the urban planning and engineering departments. The UT environment panel had requested certain parameters needed to be adopted and followed by the board. Before granting the environment clearance, the panel will make sure of all these parameters and undertakings from CHB. The urban planning and engineering departments of the administration approved a plan to build 728 flats in the general housing scheme on about 16.6 acres of land in two pockets at the IT Park at a cost of Rs 643 crore. The scheme approved by the CHB board of directors in December 2020, would have 728 flats. Even though the exact rates of flats are not decided, the tentative cost is between Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 2.75 crore. The project land forms a part of 123 acres CHB got back from Parsvnath Developers.
