Ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) officials told the media that the redevelopment project of the Central Vista Avenue, stretching from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, will be finished in the next 10-15 days.
An official said the Centre would soon issue a tender to build the chambers of the MPs that will come up in place of the Transport Bhawan and the Shram Shakti Bhawan under the Central Vista redevelopment project. The offices working from these two buildings will begin shifting in the coming days. Soon, a tender will be floated to build the chambers of the members of Parliament, the official said. The redevelopment project of the Central Vista envisages a new triangular Parliament building, the revamping of the three-kilometre-long Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, a new prime minister's residence, a common central secretariat, and a prime minister's office, and a new vice-president's enclave. The official said the Central Vista Avenue redevelopment will be finished in the next 10-15 days. Earlier, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri told the media that under the Central Vista Avenue redevelopment project, the Centre has reached the target of holding the Republic Day parade on a revamped Rajpath. Puri said that the Winter Session of Parliament would take place in the new building being constructed by Tata Projects Limited. Official sources had said that some portions of the new Parliament building may be operational by November 26. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament building in December 2020, which will have modern facilities. Tata Projects Limited is building the building. The new building will have a grand Constitution Hall to showcase the country's democratic heritage, a library, multiple committee rooms, a lounge for the members of Parliament, dining areas, and ample parking space.
