Simha also revealed that AAI is actively exploring the addition of new connections by collaborating with new airlines. This initiative aims to address the demand for enhanced connectivity to major cities, thus fulfilling the aspirations of Mysuru's populace.

During the meeting, the MP oversaw the progress of land acquisition procedures for the airport's expansion. He urged relevant authorities to expedite these processes to ensure timely completion. KIADB, responsible for land acquisition, submitted a utilisation certificate of Rs 1.5 billion to the state government and is awaiting approval for the third instalment of Rs 910 million. The process for final land acquisition notification for 46 acres is also underway.

The meeting was attended by officials from various sectors, including NHAI, South West Railways, and airlines representatives. Six advisory committee members from diverse backgrounds contributed their insights, emphasising the need for expanded scheduled flight operations at Mysuru airport.

Currently, the airport serves approximately 350 passengers daily through two airlines—Alliance Air and Interglobe Aviation (Indigo)—operating ATR-72 type aircraft. The flights to Chennai, Goa, and Hyderabad demonstrate high occupancy rates exceeding 80 per cent, underscoring the significant potential of Mysuru airport in meeting regional travel demands.
