Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, announced that under Bharatmala Pariyojna Phase-I, out of the road works of 568 km costing Rs 9,906 crore were awarded in Telangana, works covering a length of about 336 km have been completed.
Overall, works covering 2,178 km were envisaged for development under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I in Telangana for approximately Rs 54,485 crore. The Union Minister informed that all projects under the Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I, including those in Telangana, are expected to be finished by 2026-27. Regarding the work progress, Gadkari said that usually Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) take nearly 12 to 18 months. During this time, many other pre-construction activities such as land acquisition and clearances for utility from forest and environment are completed. He said that based on the preparedness of the project, the work is awarded. The pre-construction operations were carried out with the help of several state governments. He said that it was a time-consuming task that has been expedited to reduce the program's delay. Image Source
