A contemporary chic home by SK Design Studio

Elegant, chic, spacious and function sum up the aesthetics of this modern home crafted by SK Design Studio in a warm monotone palette. With elegance and warmth this home welcomes its residents to an environment of calm and comfort.

An open plan common area – Living room, dining room and kitchen


As one walks through the door, they are welcomed to the open plan living and dining room characterised by a comfortable two-seater couch and sitting space created by the window. The television is placed on a backdrop of a textured wall panel acting as the accent of the room. A small console under the television acts as storage.


The dining table with a marble top sits in the same area with in a similar palette. A wing chair with patterned tapestry adds a colour break between the living and dining space. Addition of cushions and indoor plants bring a freshness to this space. A ceiling mounted light fixture instantly enhance the elegance of the living room. A modern chandelier-like light fixture sits over the length of the dining table both illuminating the room and giving it character.


Adjacent to the dining area is an open kitchen with an off-white top and dark storage adding depth to the area. Storage units above the counter and a fridge comprise of the kitchen utilities.

The personal area – Bedrooms

This three-bedroom home has rooms designed in a monotone palette similar to each other and yet differentiated by design elements making it unique to the personality of its residents.


The master bedroom has an asymmetrical study console that gives ample space to desk a computer and acts as a functional space as well in the current work from home scenario. The wall behind the bed has interesting wall art and paintings to bring a vibrancy to the room and uplift the aura of the room.


Opposite to the bed is a large wardrobe giving ample storage space. It is also fitted with a dresser that meets the need of the couple residing in the room.


 The kids’ bedroom has a grey textured bed back wall adorned by sculpture placed in a void created in the wall. The bed is a king-size bed with a small back panel. Next to the bed is a designated desk for the purpose of study.


On the opposite end of the bed is a console on top of which sits a television for a relaxed viewing and entertainment. A floor to ceiling wardrobe gives ample storage space in the room. It also had a transparent door bookshelf attached to meet the need of the kids. 


A printed wallpaper adorning the accent wall of the guest bedroom brings character to the space. A cushioned bed back and dresser with mirror next to the bed make it a perfect setup for a guest bedroom. It has a desk and some storage space which makes the room a study for days when it isn’t in use for guests.

The décor and artifacts

While the home is simple and elegant, there are some design elements that bring life to the space.


The entrance of the house has faux grass in patches on the wall which brings a striking contrast to the wooden veneer used in that area. As on enters into the small foyer of the house, they are greeted by sculptures of laughing buddha in an illuminated console, giving the first look of the home.


The living room and bedrooms have colourful paintings that break the monotony of the room and bringing in a splash of colour with warmth. A significant addition is the is an abstract artifact at the end of the lobby that leads to the bedrooms. It is modern, muted and elegant and adds just the right amount of oomph to the home’s décor.
