Ultratech Cement starts 1.3 mtpa plant in West Bengal

Ultratech Cement announced that it had commissioned 1.3 mtpa brownfield cement capacity at Sonar Bangla, West Bengal, thus increasing the unit's capacity to 3.3 mtpa.

The company stated that the first phase of expansion in the Eastern region had been completed with this development. Over the past two years, the company has commissioned a cement capacity of 10.3 mtpa in the region.

In a regulatory filing, the company mentioned that this expansion would not only reduce lead distance but also increase the company's blended cement ratio. This aligns with their goal of reducing carbon emissions from their operations.

Ultratech Cement's total grey cement manufacturing capacity in India now amounts to 131.25 mtpa.
