Star Cement Commissions 7MW Boiler At Meghalaya Plant 
Star Cement has announced the successful commissioning of a 7 MW AQC Boiler at its newly commissioned cement plant in Lumshnong, Meghalaya, as part of its West Heat Recovery System (WHRS). This adds to the total 19 MW operational WHRS capacity at the plant, contributing to the company’s expansion efforts. The WHRS project, which aims for a total capacity of 12 MW, is a step in the company’s sustainability initiatives. The plant’s new capabilities are expected to enhance operational efficiency while supporting the company’s overall growth trajectory.

Shree Cement To Invest $1 Bn In Karnataka Cement Plants
Shree Cement has signed an MoU with the Karnataka government to invest $1bn in cement manufacturing over the next five years. A $288m plant in Kalaburagi will produce 3.5 million tonne per annum (MTPA of clinker and 3 MTPA of cement, creating 300 jobs by 2025. A second $575 mn plant will follow in two phases by 2030, with 6 MTPA capacity and 750 jobs. Additionally, a $98 mn clinker grinding unit in Bangalore Rural will produce 3 MPTA from 2028, employing 250 people. GMDC Secures 40-Year Limestone Supply Pact with JK Cement
State-owned Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) has entered into a long-term agreement with JK Cement for the supply of 250 million tonne of limestone from its upcoming Lakhpat Punrajpur Mine in Gujarat. Spanning 40 years, the deal will support JK Cement’s integrated mega-capacity plant, fostering industrial growth in the region. With Kutch’s strategic coastal location, enhanced market access, and cost-efficient logistics, the area is emerging as a key hub for cement production. GMDC, which operates five lignite mines across Gujarat, continues to play a pivotal role in India’s mineral and infrastructure sector.

UltraTech Cement Expands Sonar Plant to Boost East India Supply
UltraTech Cement commissioned an additional 0.6 million tonne per annum (MTPA) of grinding capacity at its Sonar Bangla plant in West Bengal. This expansion aims to increase the company’s blended cement ratio and meet the rising demand for composite cement in East India. It has also raised UltraTech’s domestic grey cement manufacturing capacity to 166.31 MTPA and its global capacity to 171.71 MTPA, including 5.4 MTPA from overseas operations. As India’s largest and the world’s fifth-largest manufacturer of grey cement, RMC, and white cement, UltraTech continues to advance sustainability by incorporating fly ash, gypsum, slag, and red mud in cement production.
