Dalmia Cement increases solar power plant capacity to 17.1 MW

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited expands its solar power plant capacity from 2.4 MW to 17.1 MW. The solar power plant is ready for generating 25.52 MU/PA and is going to be used for meeting the energy requirements of the Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works (KCMW) in Cuttack.

According to officials in Dalmia Cement, the enhancement of the capacity of the solar power plant will boost the organisation’s sustainability goal to become carbon negative by 2040. It will also help in reducing the daytime power requirement dependency on fossil fuels of the KCMW plant by over 40%.

In a statement, the facility spreads across 49 acres and has a capacity for generation of 25.52 million units per annum. The energy will be used for meeting the energy requirements of Dalmia Cement’s Manufacturing Works in the state.

National manufacturing head, Ganesh Jirkuntwar said that as the company is among the leading cement companies in India, the company stays committed to responsible environmental stewardship by providing green building solutions and embedding sustainable mechanisms in their organisational value chain.

He said the expansion of the solar power plant at Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works plant in Cuttack will give the company the right encouragement for its future endeavors for continuing to adopt clean as well as economical fuel.

The company is confident that the move will boost DCBL’s sustainability goal of RE100 (100% renewable electricity) by 2030 while marching towards taking their overall cement capacity to over 110-130 million tonne by 2031.
