PMRDA urges PMC to address traffic concerns in Water Supply Project

The Pune Metropolitan Region Authority (PMRDA) has sent a letter to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) urging them to expedite the reinstatement work of the 24x7 water supply project in Pashan, Aundh, and Balewadi areas in order to address the traffic concerns in the region. Commuters have expressed their frustration over increased travel times in these areas due to traffic congestion.

Rinaj Pathan, the superintendent engineer of PMRDA Metro line-3, stated, "We have requested PMC to complete the 24x7 water works on the Metro route as soon as possible. Currently, PMC is carrying out work at the Pashan and Balewadi junctions."

Shivraj Sanas, a resident of Bavdhan, complained, "The PMRDA Metro work is causing traffic jams on Ganeshkhind Road. Additionally, PMC has dug up Pashan Road to lay a 24x7 water pipeline from Pune rural police office to Abhimanshree Society road. Both agencies should coordinate their efforts to ensure better work and minimize inconvenience to the public."

Due to the ongoing PMRDA Metro work, commuters traveling from Ganeshkhind Road towards Aundh have three alternative routes. They can either take Pashan Road and turn right at Sinhagad Gate of Pune rural police, then right again onto Baner Road, and finally reach University Square to access Aundh. Alternatively, they can turn right onto Abhimanshree Society Road from Pashan Road and reach University Square. Another option is to turn right onto Abhimanshree Society Road from Pashan Road and then take a left at Baner Phata, proceeding via Sarja Hotel and Croma or ITI Road and Parihar Chowk.

Nandkumar Jagtap, the superintendent engineer of the water supply department at PMC, responsible for the 24x7 water project, stated, "Work is currently in progress in Pashan, Aundh, and Balewadi areas. It is situated along the PMRDA Metro route as well as the nearby diversion route. We are making efforts to complete the work as soon as possible."

Sumit Yadav, a junior engineer at PMRDA Metro, commented, "PMC is conducting work on the water project near the National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) and MITCON Institute. The ongoing work has resulted in traffic congestion in this area. The traffic police have also sent us a letter regarding the incomplete work."
