NMCG Approves Rs 9 Bn Projects to Rejuvenate Ganga and Yamuna

In a significant step towards river conservation, the 61st Executive Committee Meeting of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), chaired by Shri Rajeev Kumar Mital, Director-General, approved a series of impactful projects aimed at pollution abatement and ecological restoration of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.
With a strong focus on sustainable water management and clean river systems, the committee sanctioned projects worth over Rs 9 billion, reinforcing India’s commitment to rejuvenating its sacred rivers and safeguarding their cultural and ecological heritage. These wide-ranging initiatives represent a holistic approach to river rejuvenation—merging infrastructure with ecology, tradition with innovation, and local engagement with international collaboration.
