Delhi Makes Bulk Waste Generator Registration Mandatory
“All eligible entities, including government departments, local bodies, public sector undertakings, private institutions etc. having a waste generation rate exceeding 100 kg per day are required to register themselves with the MCD,” the civic body said.
Entities can register through the MCD 311 app, available on Android and iOS. BWGs must segregate waste at the source, process wet waste in-situ, and hand over dry and residual waste to authorized collection agencies.
A dedicated MCD team will oversee registrations, conduct inspections, and enforce compliance. Following Supreme Court directives, strict penalties under the SWM Byelaws 2017 will be imposed on violators.
The civic body urges eligible entities to register promptly, with guidelines available on the MCD website and zonal offices. This initiative aligns with Delhi’s goal of a cleaner, greener environment through responsible waste management.
