Belagavi Secures Rs 1.35 Billion for Waste Management Under CITIIS 2.0

Belagavi city has received a major infrastructure boost with a Rs 1.35 billion grant under the City Investments to Innovate, Integrate & Sustain 2.0 (CITIIS 2.0) scheme. The quadrilateral agreement was signed in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, in the presence of Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal. This funding aims to enhance Belagavi’s solid waste management (SWM) system and promote eco-friendly practices for sustainable urban development.
The agreement was signed by Shubh B, Commissioner of Belagavi City Corporation and Managing Director of Smart City, alongside Sharath, IAS, Managing Director of KUIDFC, Bengaluru. The project’s launch marks a significant step toward establishing an efficient and sustainable waste management system.
The event saw participation from Urban Development Ministers of over 10 states, representatives from more than 20 countries, and over 100 IAS officers, with Belagavi receiving special recognition for its efforts.
With this grant, Belagavi is set to align with global standards in waste management, addressing urban sustainability challenges and making a positive impact on the city’s ecosystem. The project is expected to play a crucial role in building a cleaner and more resilient city.
