AMC to Recruit Four Hydraulic Engineers for Water Projects
Alongside the recruitment of hydraulic engineers, the AMC will also appoint an Additional City Engineer in the Engineering Department, a Deputy City Engineer, an Assistant City Engineer, two Assistant Engineers, and two Technical Supervisors in the Light and Engineering Department. These appointments are expected to reinforce the civic administration’s capacity to plan and execute large-scale infrastructure projects more effectively.
The AMC has recently approved multiple water and drainage projects aimed at addressing the city's growing urban water management challenges. Among the key initiatives are the construction of a barrage-cum-rubber bridge, the establishment of seven new water distribution centres, the development of a drainage pumping station in Paldi, and the commissioning of a 7 MLD sewage treatment plant. These projects are designed to improve water availability, mitigate urban flooding, and enhance wastewater management across Ahmedabad.
With urban expansion and climate variability posing increasing challenges to water management, the recruitment of skilled professionals and the implementation of advanced infrastructure projects signal AMC’s proactive approach to urban planning. As cities across India grapple with the complexities of water conservation and drainage management, Ahmedabad’s initiatives are poised to serve as a model for sustainable and efficient urban water governance.
