India Inks MoU to Develop Advanced Multimodal Logistics Park in Varanasi
The MMLP will be developed on a 150-acre site, strategically positioned to strengthen transport infrastructure. A 650-metre access road will connect the facility to National Highway 7 (NH7), ensuring seamless road connectivity. The location, just 1.5 kilometres from the NH7-NH2 junction, offers a significant advantage for cargo movement.
In addition to road connectivity, the logistics park will integrate with the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor through a 5.1-kilometre railway line from Jeonathpur Station. Its proximity to National Waterway-1 enables efficient inland water transport, complementing the existing logistics framework. The facility is also situated 30 kilometers from Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport, ensuring accessibility for both domestic and international trade.
The project is expected to attract substantial investments, fostering economic development in the region. By improving supply chain efficiency and logistics infrastructure, the MMLP is set to create new employment opportunities while enhancing India’s trade competitiveness. The development of this facility aligns with the broader vision of strengthening the country’s multimodal transportation network, reducing logistics costs, and boosting overall economic growth.
Once operational, the MMLP in Varanasi is anticipated to play a crucial role in streamlining freight movement, supporting industrial expansion, and positioning India as a key player in global trade logistics.
