Foundation laid for largest industrial park in Nepal

The foundation stone for Nepal's largest industrial park—Damak Clean Industrial Park, located in the Jhapa district has been laid by Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The Damak Clean Industrial Park is a Nepali-China joint venture (JV) along and is being implemented by Jing Ping Joint Creation Construction Project Development Co Ltd from China and Lhasa Economic and Technological Development Zone Investment Co Ltd.

According to the project plan, the industrial park is expected to host modern industries for transportation equipment, producing white goods, textile and garments, and food processing, among others.

A total of 192 small, medium sized and large factories are expected to be set up inside the industrial park in the first phase.

According to the Nepal government, a significant portion of the industrial park will be developed in the next two years. Infrastructure development is expected to be completed in the next five years.

Govinda Thapa, President of Damak Clean Industrial Park, told the media last week that all the preparatory works have been completed, and construction work is set to begin.

Design of civil works
