Ujjayanta Palace in Tripura to get facelift with ADB aid
The project includes renewal of 100,000 square metres of open spaces in the Ujjayanta Palace area through beautifying garden spaces, renewing water fountains, renovating the drainage system, developing lakeside leisure activities and parking.
The project was awarded to the Mecgale Premier World joint venture in early 2021 at a cost of Rs 356.80 million. Though the construction period was 18 months, the Covid pandemic hindered the work, and it is expected to be completed early next year.
Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav, chief executive officer of ASCL and Commissioner of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), last week visited a parking place on the eastern side of Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala city.
Speaking to media persons later, Dr Yadav said “Agartala Smart City has undertaken a project funded by ADB for developing the area in and around the premises of Ujjayanta Palace here. There are several components for beautification on four sides of the Ujjayanta Palace as part of the Agartala Smart City project.”
